Introduction.
History. Founded in 1982 as Obafemi Awolowo University, and
renamed as Ondo State University in 1985, the University adopted
its present name in 1999.
It is located in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.
Admission to First-degree courses (see also Nigerian
Introduction). Nigerian applicants: Senior. School Certificate (SSC)
or General Certificate of Education (GCE) O levels, with credits
in 5 relevant subjects, obtained at no more than 2 sittings; and
University Matriculation Exam (UME). Some courses have
additional requirements. International applicants: equivalent
qualifications and UME.

Full-time courses normally last 3–5 years, while part time and
sandwich courses last 1-4 years.

Candidates for admission to Master’s degrees must normally hold
appropriate first degrees with at least second-class honours.
Candidates for admission into Ph.D degree programmes must
possess appropriate Master’s degree, obtained at Ph.D grade.
Master’s degree courses last 1–1½ year full time or 1½ - 2 years
part-time. Ph.D: 3years full time or 4 years part-time.
Libraries. 100,000 volumes, over 1,000 serial titles; Specialist
collection: government documents.
